History

It all began in 1910

Castleton Baths has been a staple of the community for many generations!
Surviving both world wars, the great depression and more recently, the Covid-19 Pandemic.

In 2017, Castleton Baths was at risk of demolition after being closed for 12 months. Which would have deprived the community of this much needed asset.

Local business man Nick Crewe (of Crewe Industrial Services Ltd.) was approached by the local labour counsellor to get involved in saving our local community pool.

Nick had very fond memories of spending weekends and summer holidays at Castleton Baths, and had strong feelings about keeping this valuable community asset open.

Nick pledged to spend the money needed to bring the building back to life after a 12-month closure.

Thus began the buildings new life as Castleton Health & Leisure Centre CIC.
A not for profit community interest company, with the local community's interest at heart.

Since re-opening the baths, our beautiful building has been fully refurbished and many of it’s old features have been retained.

We provide lane swimming, fun pods, pool parties and more to the public.
We also house numerous swimming clubs and schools such as Aquabears, Castleton Swimming Club and Dolphin Academy.
Upstairs on the third floor we have a therapy suite where local residents can book treatments such as counselling, massage therapies and our fantastic state of the art Infrared Sauna.

In 2021, we began work on constructing a brand new Hydrotherapy Pool, which will be the only Hydrotherapy Pool accessible to the public within Rochdale.

The Hydrotherapy Pool will launch late summer 2023.
